Our natural ochres pigments and our natural earths pigments are all 100% natural and are extracted from different quarries in France, in particular in the Ardennes, Burgundy, Vaucluse but also in different countries such as Germany, Italy, and India. Depending on the region, we will have all different colors. They are extracted, washed, then dried, and if necessary, burned or calcined according to the color that one wishes to obtain, to finish finely crushed in order to obtain an impalpable powder of the order of 30 microns.

natural ochres and natural earths have the advantage of being able to be mixed together to obtain other colors because they are compatible with each other. they also have excellent opacity, great resistance to alkalis, such as lime paste, and great resistance to uv (insensitive).

They have the advantage of being compatible with all binders such as lime paste or powder or cement but also natural or synthetic oils, glues, gums and resins (gum arabic, shellac, rabbit skin glue, acrylic binder, linseed oil) and can be used in all techniques (oil, egg, casein, acrylic, skin glue, lime, plaster, fresco).

dark ultramarine blue pigment

the dark ultramarine blue pigment is a polysulfurized sodium aluminosilicate, an imitation of lapis lazuli, which gives a slightly purplish navy blue color. Equivalent to majorelle blue or guimet blue (its creator) or klein blue. It can be used in all techniques and all binders, however with lime or cement the paint or the plaster must be used during the day.

clay brown pigment

clay brown pigment is a mixture of iron oxides giving a light pinkish brown colour. Its pigment is compatible with all binders and techniques and is 99% natural. A dosage in lime paste of 25% of the weight of lime gives a light pinkish brown colour in whitewash and a stronger colour in plaster. This pigment can be diluted relatively well in water with a little liquid black soap.

buttercup yellow pigment

the buttercup yellow pigment is an organic pigment fixed on a mineral base. its hue is primary yellow. This pigment is compatible with all binders and all techniques. In lime and even at high dosage (15% of the weight of lime) its hue is a bright but very light yellow almost pale. It can be used in binders other than lime provided they are not white. This pigment dilutes well in water.

veneto yellow pigment

the veneto yellow pigment is a 100% natural earth extracted on the hills of Verona in Italy. Its color lies between the dark yellow ocher pigment of Provence slightly orange and the yellow ocher pigment icles of veneto more bright yellow, mustard. This is a good alternative if you want a yellow shade that is not too dark or orange but not too bright yellow anyway. Nevertheless, its color remains soft and warm like all ochers and natural earths.

royal blue pigment

the royal blue pigment is a mixture of carbonates and iron oxides (copper phthalocyanine) which give a bright primary blue color. compatible with all binders and all techniques. In lime paste, a dosage of 20% of the weight of lime gives a sustained tone, we can go up to 30%, beyond that it will not color more. This pigment can be diluted quite well with water with a little liquid black soap.

chestnut pigment

Chestnut pigment is a mineral iron oxide which gives a slightly tan leathery brown colour. This pigment is compatible with all painting techniques. It can be dosed at 20% of the weight of the lime in order to obtain an already strong colour, beyond that it will be useful to add a fixative such as a vinyl binder to better fix the colour. Chestnut pigment can be diluted with water and a little liquid black soap.

medium ultramarine blue pigment

the medium ultramarine blue pigment is lighter and less purplish than the dark ultramarine blue pigment. It is compatible with all binders and all painting and coating techniques. A dosage in the lime paste at 20% of the lime weight will give a beautiful lavender blue, fairly sustained and more purplish than the lavender blue pigment. To mix it in water, it will be necessary to add a little liquid black soap and a little 95 ° household alcohol.

pastel blue pigment

pastel blue pigment . a slightly greyish blue pigment similar to Lectoure pastel blue (which is an organic-based pigment) when mixed with a white binder, such as lime, at a 20% dosage. With a transparent binder, it gives the colour of charette blue, used in the past to paint carriages to repel insects. This pigment has a good colouring power and can be diluted in water with a little liquid black soap. This pigment is compatible with all painting and plastering techniques.
