 pigments. Our natural ochres pigments and our natural earths pigments are all 100% natural and are extracted from different quarries in France, in particular in the Ardennes, Burgundy, Vaucluse but also in different countries such as Germany, Italy, and India. Depending on the region, we will have all different colors. They are extracted, washed, then dried, and if necessary, burned or calcined according to the color that one wishes to obtain, to finish finely crushed in order to obtain an impalpable powder of the order of 30 microns.

natural ochres and natural earths have the advantage of being able to be mixed together to obtain other colors because they are compatible with each other. they also have excellent opacity, great resistance to alkalis, such as lime paste, and great resistance to uv (insensitive).

They have the advantage of being compatible with all binders such as lime paste or powder or cement but also natural or synthetic oils, glues, gums and resins (gum arabic, shellac, rabbit skin glue, acrylic binder, linseed oil) and can be used in all techniques (oil, egg, casein, acrylic, skin glue, lime, plaster, fresco).

havana ochre pigment

havana ochre pigment is made from natural iron oxides and ochres, in the south of france in the gargas quarry. this pigment is compatible with all painting techniques and can be mixed with all binders to give a warm and luminous light orange/red apricot colour depending on the colour of the binder and the fillers. It is the only orange hue of Vaucluse ochres.

calcined sienna pigment

the calcined sienna pigment from the Ardennes is obtained by firing natural sienna to give a reddish brown color. It is the iron oxide contained in natural sienna which, when cooking, gives this color. This pigment is compatible for all painting techniques and is ideal for flour painting for wood, because it is a very opaque pigment that will protect wood well.

orange 960 pigment

orange 960 pigment is an iron oxide with a strong tinting strength that can be used in all types of binders. it gives an orange to red colour depending on the binder used and the dosage. Mixed with oil it tints to burgundy. For artistic painting, it should be finely ground before being mixed with oil to avoid lumps.

natural slate pigment

the natural slate pigment is ground schist from the Ardennes. This pigment of a light light gray tint with very light water green reflections adapts well to plasters. It is a 100% natural pigment which is suitable for all binders except oil and flour paint, as it turns black on contact with fat.

the brown ochre pigment is a mixture of ochres and iron oxides. Gives a brown / brown to beige tint with a white binder, hazelnut color used pure or with oil. This pigment is compatible for all painting techniques. Its saturation threshold is 35% of the weight of lime.

mineral orange pigment

The mineral orange pigment is an organic pigment fixed on a carbonate and sulphate base. This pigment gives a bright but soft salmon orange hue. It is less vivid than the ercolano orange pigment. It is compatible with all binders and can be used in all painting and coating techniques. A dosage of 15% of the weight of lime paste already gives a strong colour.

tin gray pigment

The tin gray pigment is a mixture of iron oxides giving a primary light grey shade. This pigment is compatible with all binders and all techniques, however it is not compatible with ochre or flour paint. In lime and dosed at 15% of the weight of lime, a fairly soft pale grey is obtained. A little 95° household alcohol will be necessary to mix it well with the water binders. This pigment is 99% natural.

the hématite pigment from bourgogne in france is extracted from the quarry of saint amand en Puisaye. reddish brown color. This pigment was very often used in bourgogne, in berry and in indre for painting barn doors and other woodwork on farms.

italian cassel brown pigment

italian cassel brown pigment is a mixture of 100% natural calcined iron oxides giving a taupe brown/black to medium mouse grey slightly brown colour depending on the binder and dilution. This pigment is made in Italy and was originally extracted from peat and ferrous lignites. It is perfectly diluted in water. A dosage of 30% of the weight of lime paste will give a taupe colour which is quite trendy at the moment.

orange ochre pigment

The orange ochre pigment is a mixture of ochres and oxides of our composition that can be used with all binders and for all techniques. It gives a yellow-orange colour as soft as ochres and earths. Dose at 30% of the weight of lime paste to obtain a deep terracotta colour. It dilutes very well with water and will have an excellent outdoor resistance. A low dosage will give a very soft pale yellow-pink colour outside, reminiscent of the reflections of a sunset.

lime black pigment

lime black pigment is an organic pigment fixed on a mineral base. It gives a soft black colour close to rome black, it has a high tinting strength and is compatible with all techniques and all binders. For its dilution it will be necessary to use a few drops of alcohol at 95° in order to favour its dispersion in your mixtures.
